Семья мальчика, замерзшего насмерть в штате Техас, подала иск на $100 млн к группе энергетических компаний Техаса ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas), которая обслуживает около 90% потребителей штата и местной энергетической компании Entergy. Об этом в воскресенье сообщил телеканал KHOU

По его сведениям, 11-летний Кристиан Павон умер во вторник в городе Конро, после того как провел ночь в трейлере, который остался без тепла и света из-за массовых отключений электричества. Семья погибшего утверждает, что мальчик погиб от переохлаждения, официальная причина смерти пока не установлена.

Entergy выразила соболезнования в связи со смертью Павона. "Мы чрезвычайно опечалены гибелью человека в нашем районе. Мы не имеем права давать комментарии из-за текущего судебного разбирательства", - приводит телеканал заявление компании. При этом, ERCOT выразила уверенность, что местные энергетические компании приняли правильное решение, прибегнув к веерным отключениям электроэнергии, когда вся электросеть штата находилась на грани коллапса.

Большинство потребителей электроэнергии в Техасе к концу недели удалось вновь подключить к энергоснабжению, однако во многих домах, где несколько дней не было электричества, прорвало трубы, и теперь сотни тысяч жителей штата оказались без воды после сильнейшей за 30 лет снежной бури. Без электроэнергии сейчас остаются менее 30 тыс. жителей штата, однако еще в начале недели без света оказались несколько миллионов человек. С проблемами, связанными с водоснабжением, столкнулись около 14 млн жителей штата. Более 260 тыс. из них оказались без питьевой воды. Президент США Джо Байден отдал распоряжение оказать федеральную помощь властям Техаса из-за последствий сильной снежной бури.
