What is being done between Armenia, Russia in biological security?
RussiaVaccination against influenza and measles is the basis of biological security of our countries. But there is also a unique biological security; that is what we have already talked about. It’s about the US Defense Department's interest in our laboratories, where to build, where to adapt what we have. Gennady Onishchenko, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education, said this while answering the question about what work is being done between Armenia and Russia in the framework of the memorandum of cooperation in biological security, which the two countries had signed in 2021.
"The memorandum refers to the second part. Although work is also being done on the formation of the basis of biological security: vaccination, creation of collective immunity against all infections, etc. In addition, data are exchanged on the state of infectious diseases in our countries.
"In our bilateral relations, there are also matters related to similar methods of disclosure. Different methodologies have different sensitivities and give different results. Harmonization of research and personnel training is also carried out between Armenia and Russia.
"The most important thing is to inform each other on time about what is happening in our countries. The infection has no borders, it does not choose people based on political beliefs or nationality," added Onishchenko.
