Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a resolution “On the distribution of subsidies for creating in rural areas educational organisations conditions for physical training and sports.” The decision will promote the creation of conditions for physical training and sports at general educational establishments located in rural areas. The text of the document is posted on Russian government’s websiteon Wednesday.

The document was drafted by the Russian Education and Science Ministry pursuant to the Russian state programme “Development of Education” for 2013 - 2020.

“The document was worked out pursuant to item ‘b’ of article 2 of the list of the Russian president’s orders of March 13, 2013 No Pr-756,” the report says.

“The subsidies are provided for co-financing of the expenditure commitments of regional budgets (including the Republic of Crimea and Federal City of Sevastopol) to fund a set of measures to create in organisations conditions for physical training and sports (further - set of measures),” says the document.

“The set of measures includes activities for the repair of gyms, conversion of available classrooms into gyms for physical training and sports, provision of organisations with sports gear and equipment, increasing the number of students engaging in physical culture and sports activities after classes, developing school sports clubs, construction of outdoor sports facilities in the territories of the organisations,” the report says.

“The 2014 federal budget provides for the allocation of funds worth $51 321.6 (1 million 800 thousand roubles) for the above purposes. Subsidies shall be allocated to 82 constituent entities of the Russian Federation (except the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg), including the Republic of Crimea and Federal City of Sevastopol. The Nenets Autonomous Area will get the subsidy as part of the Arkhangelsk region,” the resolution says.
