5.7-magnitude earthquake hits Iran-Pakistan border region
IranAn earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale has struck an area along the Iran-Pakistan border, the US Geological Survey says.
U.S. seismologists say the epicenter was 202 kilometers south-east of the Iranian city of Zahedan.
The aftershocks were recorded in 07:15 Moscow time at a depth of 68.3 kilometers.
There are no reports of victims or damage.
On Tuesday, a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred in the same area, 200 kilometers from Zahedan. According to Iranian media reports about 40 people were killed in the country.
Pakistani media have reported more than 30 dead in Pakistan and hundreds injured.
On April 9 another strong earthquake occurred in Iran which, according to seismologists, had an epicenter located 91 km from the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
31 people were killed in that quake and about 500 people were injured. The Beshehr plant itself was not affected.
