PM: There are 2 border demarcation options, both are acceptable to Armenia

Armenia and Azerbaijan have recognized each other's territorial integrity with the borders based on the Almaty declaration. This means that we are left with technical work: to reproduce on maps and on the ground the existing de jure border between the Armenian and Azerbaijan SSRs as of 1991, by highlighting their legal bases and solving the issue. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia.

"The issue of so-called exclaves, enclaves should be addressed on the same principle. (…). But Azerbaijan regularly avoids going to such solutions, trying to go down the road of localization. We [i.e. Armenia] agree even to this option and to carry out border demarcation even region by region, reproducing the border in each sector, then carry out the adjustment of the positioning of the troops according to the reproduced boundary and move on to the next sector, and leave the exclave issues to the very last phase.

That is, there are two options. First, we carry out demarcation along the entire boundary and proceed to its implementation. The second option is that we divide the border into pieces and move forward by demarking the border piece by piece. Both options are acceptable to us [i.e. Armenia] within the framework of the abovementioned principles. But Azerbaijan seems to be avoiding this option as well," Pashinyan emphasized.
