Агрессия Азербайджана привела к проблемам экологии региона: представитель Армении по международным правовым вопросам

Военная агрессия Азербайджана, проявляемая в последние годы, привела к серьезным экологическим проблемам в регионе. Как сообщает «Арменпресс», об этом заявил представитель Республики Армения по международным правовым вопросам Егише Киракосян в ходе первого процессуального заседания арбитражного разбирательства между Арменией и Азербайджаном на основании Бернской конвенции о защите европейской дикой природы и природной среды.

Слушания проходили в Гааге в Постоянном арбитражном суде.

Егише Киракосян заметил, что траектория политики Армении в области охраны окружающей среды говорит сама за себя. Армения неоднократно подтверждала свою приверженность защите дикой флоры и фауны и природной среды в регионе, в том числе посредством тесного сотрудничества с Постоянным комитетом Бернской конвенции.

Между тем, Азербайджан, похоже, придерживается своей циничной стратегии использования так называемых «экологических проблем» в качестве инструмента для достижения политических целей. В последние годы военная агрессия Азербайджана привела к серьезным экологическим проблемам в регионе, уничтожению лесов, загрязнению земельных и водных ресурсов, в том числе к истощению ресурсов Сарсангского водохранилища. Флора и фауна Нагорного Карабаха также находятся под угрозой из-за непрекращающихся сносов и строительных работ Азербайджана, направленных на предотвращение возвращения этнических армян на родину.

Армения будет стремиться подтвердить свою позицию и защитить свои интересы в рамках данного арбитражного разбирательства, оспаривая необоснованные претензии Азербайджана, а на соответствующей стадии разбирательства предъявив и собственные претензии к Азербайджану относительно постоянного нарушения экологических обязательств», - сказал представитель Республики Армения по международным правовым вопросам.
