Dutch FA confirmed Guus Hiddink as Netherlands new couch after World Cup 2014
DiasporaThe Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) confirmed Guus Hiddink as the new head coach of the national team after the World Cup 2014, the official FA website reports.
The contract comes into effect on 1 August and will operate until the end of the 2016 European Championships in France. Hiddink will replace Louis van Gala who leaves the team after the 2014 World Cup. Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Danny Blind will help the former head coach of Russia.
“I am honored to become the head coach of the national team once again. With Danny Blind and Ruud van Nistelrooy, we have a strong team with a huge amount of football knowledge and experience. In this way, the football vision of the Netherlands team can be preserved for the long term,” Hiddink stressed.
Hiddink has led the team in the Netherlands from January 1995 until July 1998. Under his leadership team reached the semifinals at the 1998 World Cup, which lost in a penalty shootout with Brazilians.
The Dutch team trained by Louis Van Gal will play in the group stage with Spain, Chile and Australia. For a ticket to Euro 2016 Dutch team will compete with Czech Republic, Turkey, Latvia, Iceland and Kazakhstan.
