Death toll exceeds 380 in earthquake in south-western China
World PressMore than 380 people have died in a 6.5-point measured devastating earthquake in Yunnan province, south-western China. Chinese Ministry for Civil Affairs reported this on Monday.
Three people are reported missing and more than 1.8 thousand have been injured, according to provincial authorities. The largest death toll was reported in counties Ludian with 302 dead and Qiangjia with 66 casualties.
The earthquake has occurred at 8.30 a.m. UTC on August 3. The quake nested at a depth of 12 kilometers with its epicenter located 23 kilometers southwest of the city of Zhaotong. This earthquake is the strongest in Yunnan province for the last 14 years.
