UN Security Council draft resolution gives 12 months to create Palestinian state
SocietyThe UN Security Council received a draft resolution giving 12 months to establish a sovereign and viable Palestinian state and put an end to Israeli occupation. The document with its copy transmitted to TASS urges conflicting parties to refrain from any unilateral and illegal actions, including construction of settlements.
The draft resolution welcomes the idea of holding an international conference to resume Palestinian-Israeli dialogue halted in the spring of 2014. The document also said that all Israeli forces should leave occupied territories not later than in 2017.
The initial variant of the document submitted by Palestinian delegation in October set a deadline of 24 months.
The date of vote on the document is not set yet, a reliable source in the UN head office told TASS. Chad’s permanent mission presiding in the UN Security Council in December confirmed that no meetings are planned on Palestinian issue within a few days.
