The congratulatory address of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan on the World Press Freedom Day

Respectable representatives of Mass Media,
Today the World Press Freedom Day is marked and I want to address my congratulations to the journalists of Armenia in the form of gratitude words.
In our century of rapidly developing technologies, when everyone can easily spread information and can easily present false information as news, the work of professional journalists is becoming more and more important and responsible. That is why I express my gratitude to you, professional journalists who are able to see important development of events there where others seek for sensations and not finding anything important for themselves ignore this or that event. And it is you, professional journalists, who are able to draw public attention to more actual issues which then become a precedent and change the stereotypes of thinking, change people and even out reality. It’s not occasional that the representatives of Mass Media are considered to be “the Fourth Estate”.
I wish you to go on your important professional work with honour and dignity.
