Protestors install parasols, police geid grillages on Baghramian Avenue: further steps unclear
SocietyThe protestors installed parasols on Baghramyan Avenue. The police did not mind participants ofthe sit-in install 5-6 parasols. Geid grillages were installed on the avenue by the police. Open space was left between the rubbish bins placed in the center of the avenue and the participants of the sitin. The police had concerns that there might be stones in the rubbish bins but after a quick check these concerns disappeared. Besides, the smell of the rubbish bins is spread under the sun. The situation is calm currently. The protestors were provided with food and water. The organizers of the protest action have not yet made their future steps clear. They are just continuing the sitin which started on June 23 in one of the central avenues of the capital.
Despite the protests, the new electricity tariff was approved at the session of Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia on June 17. The electricity price has increased by 6,93 AMD, reaching 48,78 AMD per 1 kWh. Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC had suggested increasing the electricity price by 17 AMD per 1 kWh.
