US Department of State: Nagorno-­Karabakh people have right to decide their own future

The United States of America recognizes the right of the people of the Nagorno-Karabakh to decide their own future. “Armenpress” reports, referring to the official website of US Department of State, that State Department Spokesperson John Kirby told journalists the aforementioned during daily briefing when referring to the upcoming local government bodies elections in Arstakh Republic in September.

“However, the United States does not recognize Nagorno­Karabakh as an independent sovereign state, and we will not accept the results of the so­called elections on Sept.13 as affecting the legal status of the region,” Kirby added.
