President Serzh Sargsyan attends session of CIS Heads of State Council
Дипломатические миссииSerzh Sargsyan who is in Kazakhstan on an official visit attended on October 16 the session of CIS Heads of State Council in
Burabay. “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Office to the President of the
Republic of Armenia that the session was presided by the President of the host country Nursultan Nazarbayev. Before passing to the agenda issues the CIS heads of states congratulated Alexander Lukashenko for a convincing win in the presidential elections of Belarus as well as President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev for holding successful parliamentary elections.
During narrow and expanded formats of the sessions of the Council the presidents signed 2 dozens of documents, including a statement on the 70th anniversary of the UN, appeal on the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and declaration on fight against international terrorism.
During the session special attention was paid to security provision and cooperation in that sphere.
The concept of military cooperation of the CIS till 2020, cooperation programme between CIS member states on strengthening border security at external borders for 2016-2020 were adopted during the session.
Kazakhstan takes over CIS presidency in 2016.
