The Guardian: США ждут скорого поражения России в Сирии

После крушения лайнера А321 президент России Владимир Путин столкнулся с дилеммой продолжать действовать в Сирии еще более активно или сесть за стол переговоров, в то же время США спокойно ждут поражения Кремля.

Об этом в среду, 11 ноября, пишет газета The Guardian, передает Газета.ru.

"Тот факт, что Россия отменила авиарейсы в Египет, а также эвакуировала из страны своих туристов говорит о том, что российские спецслужбы имеют те же подозрения о террористическом сценарии, что и официальные лица США и Великобритании", - отмечается в материале.

Издание ссылается на американского чиновника, выражающего мнение Вашингтона о том, что "Россия слишком много взяла на себя в Сирии". По его словам, США ждет, пока Россия потерпит неудачу и согласится с тем, что сирийский президент Башар Асад должен уйти в отставку.

"Они совершили стратегическую ошибку. Они переоценили возможности сирийской армии и недооценили то, какой беспорядок творится в Сирии", — заявил чиновник.

Как предполагает автор материала, если причиной авиакатастрофы окажется бомба, то у России не будет других вариантов, кроме как усилить свое присутствие в Сирии. В таком случае Путину придется сосредоточиться на борьбе с "Исламским государством", чтобы избежать "террора и хаоса" в собственной стране.

"Мы не собираемся устраивать с Россией военное противостояние из-за того, что она поддерживает Асада. Мы собираемся подождать, пока она потерпит поражение, после чего мы надеемся провести политические переговоры", — рассказал изданию чиновник из Вашингтона.

Отмечается, что, если одной из целей России было показать свою значимость на международной арене, то цель частично была достигнута. Но несмотря на то, что Путин демонстрирует поддержку Асада и даже недавно пригласил его на встречу в Кремль, эта поддержка "имеет свой срок годности", считает колумнист издания.
