Armenian FM briefs EU envoy on devastations in Karabakh
ARCHIVEArmenia’s foreign minister briefed a European official on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh after the recent frontline offensives, expressing his concerns over the losses suffered and the damages caused to the negotiation process.
At a meeting with Herbert Zalber, EU Special Representative for Caucasus and Crisis in Georgia, Edward Nalbandian addressed also the current efforts towards overcoming the devastating consequences.
Reaffirming the international stance ruling out a military solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the EU envoy reiterated also the Union’s support to the OSCE Minsk Group-mediated peace process aimed at promoting a negotiated settlement, reports the Foreign Ministry’s press service.
The sides exchanged thoughts over possible plans to renew the peace talks. Mr Nalbandian said that he thinks that the upcoming meetings’ agenda may focus on ruling out the scenario of the four-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan early in April.
The Armenia-EU relations and the recent efforts towards signing a new cooperation agreement were also discussed at the meeting.
