«Իրավունք» թերթը գրում է. «Նախորդ տարի դեկտեմբերի 9-ին Թուրքիայում տեղի ուենցած Արքեպիսկոպոսի ընտրության արդյունքում պոլսահայ համայնքում մինչ օրս միանշանակ չեն ընդունում 85-րդ պատրիարք Սահակ եպիսկոպոս Մաշալյանի ընտրությունը: Հիշեցնենք, որ քվեարկության արդյունքում վերջինս ստացել էր ձայների մեծամասնությունը, այնուհանդերձ համայնքի մասնակցության ցուցանիշը ցածր էր, ինչն էլ ստվերում է նրա ողջ համայնքի կողմից ընտրված լինելու հանգամանքը: Ինչպես հայտնի էր, ոմանք բոյկոտել եւ չէին մասնակցել քվեարկությանը, մի մասն էլ սպիտակ թուղթ էր նետել քվեատուփ՝ այս ընտրությունը համարելով անարդար: «Իրավունքի» տեղի աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ, երկու օր առաջ տեղի ունեցածը եկավ փաստելու, որ Մաշալյանը չի արդարացնում քրիստոնյաների ցանկությունը: Բանն այն է, որ Սոֆյաի տաճարը, որը մեկ դարից ավելի ունի թանգարանի կարգավիճակ, թուրքական իշխանությունները վաղուց ցանկանում են այն վերածել մզկիթի: Տեղի աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ՝ Թուրքիայում իր ներկայությանը ապահովող արքեպիսկոպոս Մաշալյանը սկսել է կարծիքներ տարածել, թե իբր տեղի հայ համայնքը կողմ է, որպեսզի թանգարանը վերածվի մզկիթի: «Սա ի՞նչ է, եթե ոչ թուրքական իշխանություններին հաճոյանալու հերթական փորձ: Եթե նախկիններին մեղադրում էինք տարբեր առիթներով, եւ փոփոխություն կատարեցինք՝ իբրեւ ինքնուրույն որոշումների կայացնելու համար, բայց փաստորեն կրկին սխալվեցինք: Եթե նման բան լինի, մենք մեր բողոքի ձայնը բարձրացրնելու ենք՚,- ասաց մեր աղբյուրը»:
