Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ Արամ Ա կաթողիկոսն անդրադարձել է Թուրքիայում Ստամբուլի Սուրբ Սոֆիայի տաճարը մզկիթի վերածելու որոշմանը:

«Քիչ առաջ համացանցի միջոցով իմացանք, թե թրքական դատարանը որոշած է Կոստանդնուպոլսի հունաց Այա Սոֆիա պատմական Մայր Տաճարը վերածել մզկիթի։

Արդարև, 537 թուականին կառուցուած այս տաճարը բուզանդական ճարտարապետական արվեստի գագաթն է։ Բուզանդական կայսրության անկումով և Օսմանեան կայսրության գրավումով, 1453-ին տաճարը վերածված էր մզկիթի և ապա, 1935-ին՝ թանգարանի։

Անցնող օրերին, եկեղեցիներու պետեր և ընդհանրապես միջազգային շրջանակներ կոչ ուղղեցին Թուրքիային չդիմելու Այա Սոֆիան վերստին մզկիթի վերածելու քայլին և պահելու նրա ներկա կարգավիճակը։ Հայ թե օտար մամուլի  ներկայացուցիչներ ցանկացան Մեր տեսակռտը ունենալ այս մասին։ Մենք չուզեցինք կարծիք հայտնել՝ նախատեսելով թրքական դատարանին առնելիք որոշման բնույթը։ Կուզենք հետևյալ ընդգծումները կատարել.

Առաջին, Թուրքիան իր նախագահին ներկա նախաձեռնության ճամփով, հոգևոր ու մշակութային արժեքներ ոտնահարելու, միջազգային օրենքով ճշտված սկզբունքներ անտեսելու և պատմութունը նենգափոխելու իր վարքագիծը փաստերեն շարունակում է։

Երկրորդ, մեկնելով ներկայի և ապագայի իր ներքին թե արտաքին շահերեն, ինչպես նաև աշխարհաքաղաքական նպատակներեն, Թուրքիան նոյնիսկ անտեսում է իր հին թե  նոր բարեկամների թելադրությունը։

Երրորդ, Թուրքիան իր այս որոշումով գիտակցորեն հարվածում է քրիստոնեայ-իսլամ փոխադարձ հարգանքի ու վստահության վրա հիմնված համակեցությունը՝ տեղական, շրջանային ու միջազգային մակարդակներում, հակառակ այս գծով կատարված զգուշացումներին։

Չորրորդ, Թուրքիան իր ներկա քայլով գալիս է մեկ անգամ  ևս հաստատելու, թե Արևմուտքին և քրիստոնյա համայնքների բացվելուն իր ցույց տված նշանները կեղծ էին։

Հինգերորդ, ո՞ւր էին արևմտյան աշխարհի ղեկավարները, քաղաքական թեհոգևոր, երբ հայոց ցեղասպանությունից հետո հայ ժողովուրդին պատկանող հազարավոր եկեղեցիներ ախոռների, սրճարանների, մզկիթների և այլ հանրային վայրերի վերածվեցին...։

Այո՛, ցեղասպանութունը  ա՛յլապես շարունակվում է նույն ցեղասպանի կողմից, աշխարհի լռության դիմաց։ Օսմանյան կայսրության այլամերժ գաղափարախոսութունը ա՛յլապե ս թփանցում է ամեն տեղ՝ արաբական աշխարհից ն սկսեածլ մինչև արևմտյան երկիրներ, աշխարհի լռության դիմաց»։
