Իսպանական «Բարսելոնայի» ֆուտբոլիստ Լիոնել Մեսսիի հայրը՝ Խորխե Մեսսին, նամակ է հղել Լա Լիգայի ղեկավար Խավիեր Տեբասին, որում ասում է, որ հարձակվողի պայմանագրում նշված կետը 700 միլիոն եվրոյի չափով փոխհատուցման մասին դրույթը կիրառելի չէ, հայտնում է Marca-ն: «Մենք չգիտենք, թե որ պայմանագիրն են վերլուծել և ինչ հիմքերով են եկել այն եզրակացության, որ նույն պայմանագիրն ուժի մեջ կլինի, եթե խաղացողը որոշի միակողմանիորեն խզել պայմանագիրը 2019/20 մրցաշրջանի ավարտից հետո: Սա ակնհայտ սխալ է: Ակնհայտ է, որ 700 միլիոն եվրոյի չափով փոխհատուցման դրույթը չպետք է կիրառվելու», - ասվում է նամակում: Վերջին անգամ արգենտինացին ակումբի հետ պայմանագիրը երկարաձգել է 2017 թվականին՝ երեք մրցաշրջանով՝ ևս մեկ տարով երկարաձգելու հնարավորությամբ: Ավելի վաղ ԶԼՄ-ները հաղորդել էին, որ փոխհատուցման մասին դրույթը չի կիրառվի, եթե պայմանագիրը խզվի վերջին մրցաշրջանում:
Լա Լիգան, պատասխանելով Խորխե Մեսսիի նամակին, ասել է, որ դա պայմանագրի կետերի «ապատեքստայինացված և իրականությունից հեռու մեկնաբանություն է»։
