Մինչ կառավարությունը հերքում է ադրբեջանական զինուժի՝ Վարդենիսի տարածք, ավելի կոնկրետ՝ Սոթքի հանքի տարածք հասնելու մասին շրջանառվող լուրերը, Սոթքի հանքի տարածքում ընթանում են բանակցություններ հայ և ադրբեջանցի զինվորականների միջև: Ընթացող բանակցությունների մասին 168.am-ի հետ զրույցում հայտնել է Գեղարքունիքի մարզի Գեղամասար համայնքի (կենտրոնը՝ Սոթք) ղեկավար Հակոբ Ավետյանը՝ պաշտոնապես հաստատելով, որ ադրբեջանական զինուժը Սոթքի հանքի տարածքում է:

«Ուրեմն էս պահի դրությամբ ադրբեջանական զինուժը նախատեսված էդ դարպասները, որ դրվել էր, այդ տեղը անցել են արդեն ու եկել են հենց հիմա ոսկու հանքի տարածքում են, էդ գագաթին կանգնած են, որը մեր հանքի տարածքն էր արդեն: Ու էդտեղից պահանջում  են ազատել տարածքը: Բայց հիմա այս պահին բանակցություններ ա գնում»,- ասաց Հակոբ Ավետյանը:

Հարցին, թե ովքե՞ր են բանակցում, նա պատասխանել է. «Իրանց կողմից իրանց հրամանատարությունը կլինի, պարզ ա, որ զինվորների հետ չի, բայց իրանց զորքը կանգնած ա էնտեղ, էս կողմից էլ մեր հրամանատարությունն է: Այո, մեր կողմից արդեն կան զինվորականներ: Էնտեղ չեն թողնում, որ ավելի առաջ գան, բայց դե իրանք բավականին առաջ եկել են, էլի: Ու իրավունք չունեին իրանք էնտեղ հայտնվելու: Նախատեսված տեղը էդ դարպասներն էր, բայց դարպասներից շա՜տ առաջ են եկել, հասել են արդեն Սոթքի սահմանին»։

Հակոբ Ավետյանի խոսքով՝ կլինի մոտավորապես 2 ժամ գուցե ավելի, ինչ ադրբեջանական ուժերը Սոթքի հանքի տարածքում են. «Իրանք եկել են, կանգնել են էն տեղը, ասում  են, որ՝ «էդի արդեն մերն ա, սահմանն ա, ստեղ ազատեք», ու դա արդեն ոսկու հանքի մի մասը դրա մեջ ա մտնում»։

Հակոբ Ավետյանը վերահաստատել է տեղեկությունը, որ հանքի տարածքից հանվում է  տեխնիկան: «Էս պահին արդեն տեխնիկաները հանում են էդտեղից»,- ասել է նա:

Անդրադառնալով բնակիչների անվտանգության ապահովման հարցին՝ Հակոբ Ավետյանը նշել է. «Հիմա, գիտեք, զգոն ենք, էս պահին եթե ինչ-որ գործողություն պետք ա արվի, պատրաստ լինենք ամեն ինչի: Բայց որ հասել են էստեղ, ճիշտ ա, կրակոցներ չկան, չգիտենք՝ ինչ կարա լինի: Ամեն վայրկյան կարա նաև լինի: Եթե կարողացել են հասնել էդտեղ, ի՞նչ երաշխիք կա, որ չեն կարա մի հատ էլ կրակոցներ անեն արդեն գյուղերի վրա»:
