«1988 թ. արցախյան/անկախական քաղաքական համակարգը փլուզված է. նրա զավակը՝ Հայաստանի երրորդ Հանրապետությունն անկում է ապրում
Դպրոցական երեխային հարցնես, կասի, թե որոնք են մեր պատմության ամենամռայլ, ամենաողբերգական, ամենասև էջերը՝ Արտաշեսյան, Արշակունիների և Բագրատունյաց թագավորությունների ու Կիլիկյան Հայաստանի կործանումը, Հայոց Ցեղասպանությունն ու դարերի ընդմիջումից հետո վերանկախացած Հայաստանի առաջին Հանրապետության անկումը: Մեր ժողովրդի հիշողությունն ու հայ պատմագրությունը դարերով մշակել ու հայերի ամեն մի հաջորդ սերնդին է փոխանցել այս հարացույցը:
Ու ինձ միշտ մտատանջել է, թե արդյոք այդ մեծ իրադարձությունների ժամանակակիցները, դրա ականատեսներն ու մասնակիցները հասկացել են իրենց աչքի առաջ տեղի ունեցողի պատմականությունը, դրա մասշտաբայնությունը: Դատելով մեզ հասու աղբյուրներից՝ առանձին անհատներ՝ այո, հասկացել են, հավաքականությունը՝ ոչ: Էդ հետո արդեն, երբ անցել են տարիներ, տասնամյակներ ու հարյուրամյակներ, ժողովուրդը, նրա հավաքական գիտակցությունը նոր է գլխի ընկել, թե ինչ մասշտաբի աղետ է տեղի ունեցել ժամանակին, երբ կործանվել են հայոց թագավորությունները կամ տեղի է ունեցել Հայոց Ցեղասպանությունը:
Հիմա էլ, մեծ հաշվով, նույնն է: Մեր հավաքական գիտակցությունը չի ընկալում մեր աչքի առաջ տեղի ունեցողի պատմականությունը, շրջադարձային լինելը, մասշտաբը: Ընկալում են անհատները:
Բարդ է ասել, թե դեպքերը ուր կտանեն Հայաստանը. տարբեր սցենարներ կյանքի իրավունք են ստացել: Սակայն ակնհայտ է մեկ բան, որ Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունն այլևս երբեք չի լինի նախկինը. 1988 թ. արցախյան/անկախական քաղաքական համակարգը փլուզված է: Այդ քաղաքական համակարգի ծնունդը, նրա զավակը՝ Հայաստանի երրորդ Հանրապետությունն անկում է ապրում:
Հ.Գ. Գրառման իմաստը վախճանաբանությունը չէ, ինչպես անուշադիր ընթերցողը կարող է կարծել, այլ տեղի ունեցող պատմական տրանսֆորմացիայի սառնասիրտ արձանագրումը»:
