Հայաստանի Հանրապետության նախագահ Արմեն Սարգսյանն աշխատանքային այց է կատարել Գյումրի: Այս մասին հայտնեցին ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից:   

Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդարանում նախագահ Սարգսյանը հանդիպել է թեմի առաջնորդ Գերաշնորհ Տ. Միքայել արքեպիսկոպոս Աջապահյանի հետ:

Հանրապետության նախագահը և Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդն անդրադարձել են պատերազմի ընթացքում մեր կրած ցավալի կորուստներին և երկրում ստեղծված ճգնաժամային իրավիճակին՝ համակարծիք լինելով, որ, որպես ժողովուրդ և պետություն, մենք այլ ընտրություն չունենք, քան միասնական ուժերով ոտքի կանգնելը:

Նշելով, որ իրավիճակը շարունակում է մնալ ծանր՝ զրուցակիցներն իրենց մտահոգությունն ու անհանգստությունն են հայտնել երկրի առջև ծառացած լրջագույն ու բազմաբնույթ մարտահրավերների ու խնդիրների առնչությամբ, անդրադարձել դրանց հաղթահարման ուղիներին:

Նրանք հատկապես կարևորել են պետության սահմանների ու սահմանամերձ համայնքների անվտանգությունն ու պաշտպանությունը, գերիների, պատանդների վերադարձի և անհայտ կորածների հայտնաբերման հետ կապված խնդիրների լուծումը:

Հանրապետության նախագահը Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդի ուղեկցությամբ այցելել է Գյումրիի Սուրբ Ամենափրկիչ եկեղեցի։

Նախագահ Սարգսյանը հանդիպումներ է ունեցել նաև Շիրակի մարզպետ Տիգրան Պետրոսյանի և Գյումրիի քաղաքապետ Սամվել Բալասանյանի հետ:
