Ցավով տեղեկացանք Առաքելական մեր Սուրբ Եկեղեցու արժանավոր զավակ, տիար Վարդան Գրեգորյանի մահվան մասին: Այս մասին գրել է Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Գարեգին Բ Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսը:

«Հանուն Գերագույն Հոգևոր Խորհրդի և Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի միաբանության` բերում ենք Մեր սրտակցությունն ու ցավակցությունը ննջեցյալի ընտանիքին, հարազատներին ու բոլոր վշտացյալներին:

Հոգելույս Վարդան Գրեգորյանը կրթական, գիտական և հանրային ճանաչված գործիչ էր։ Ավելի քան քսանամյա գործունեությամբ նա գովելի նպաստ է բերել հումանիտար գիտությունների զարգացմանը, բեղուն առաքելություն իրականացրել ԱՄՆ-ի հեղինակավոր բարձրագույն ուսումնական հաստատություններում։

Մեծ փորձառությամբ ու վաստակով լուսահոգի Վարդան Գրեգորյանը գլխավորել է Նյու Յորքի հանրային գրադարանը՝ վերականգնելով գրադարանի մշակութային նշանակության կարգավիճակը, և շուրջ երկուս ու կես տասնամյակ նախագահել Նյու Յորքի «Քարնեգի» հիմնադրամը՝ արգասավորելով բարեգործական այս հաստատության ծրագրերի իրականացումը աշխարհի տարբեր երկրներում։ Նրա կերպարը ոգեշնչում էր սփյուռքի շատ գործիչների և օրինակելի էր նոր սերնդի համար։

Առանձնակի ջերմությամբ ենք անդրադառնում, որ համաշխարհային հռչակ ունենալով՝ հոգելույս Վարդան Գրեգորյանը միշտ շեշտում էր իր ազգային պատկանելությունը, Առաքելական մեր Սուրբ Եկեղեցու զավակ լինելը։ Բարեհիշատակ հայորդին միշտ աշխույժ մասնակցություն էր բերում ամերիկահայ համայնքի հոգևոր-եկեղեցական կյանքին, Պատարագի սրբազան արարողություններին, եկեղեցական կարևոր միջոցառումներին ու ձեռնարկներին։

Նրա սրտում հաստատուն էր հավատարմությունն ու նախանձախնդրությունը՝ առ ազգն ու հայրենին։ Նա համահիմնադիրն էր «Ավրորա» մարդասիրական նախաձեռնության և մեծապես կարևորում էր Հայոց ցեղասպանության համընդհանուր ճանաչման, Հայ դատի հաղթանակի, հարազատ երկրի զորացման ու առաջընթացի գործում նվիրյալ ջանքերի ներդրումը, հայրենիք-սփյուռք կապերի ամրապնդումն ու արդյունավորումը։

Աղոթք ենք բարձրացնում առ Ամենողորմ Աստված, որ Իր անսահման գթությամբ երկնային երանական բարձունքներում խաղաղություն և հանգստություն պարգևի հանգուցյալ Վարդան Գրեգորյանի լույս հոգուն: Այլև հայցում ենք Սուրբ Հոգու մխիթարությունն ու սփոփանքը ննջեցյալի ընտանյաց անդամներին ու հարազատներին և սգակիր բոլոր անձանց»,- նշել է Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսը։
