Սպիտակի երկրաշարժից 33 տարի անց Գյումրիում դեռ տնակներում բնակվող ընտանիքներ կան: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, վերջին հաշվառման արդյունքներով Գյումրիում  2776 տնակ կա:

Շիրակի մարզում բնակարանաշինական ամենածավալուն ծրագիրը երկրաշարժից անմիջապես հետո ԽՍՀՄ հանրապետությունների կողմից իրականացրած ծրագիրն էր: Այն ժամանակ մարզում կառուցվեց 4 800 բնակարան, որոնցից 4 500-ը՝ Գյումրիում: Դրանից հետո «Լինսի» հիմնադրամի միջոցներով մարզում 2 558 բնակարան կառուցվեց, 2 531-ը՝ Գյումրիում, «Գլենդել Հիլզ» կազմակերպության կողմից՝ 3 330 բնակարան, որից 2 812-ը՝ Գյումրիում: Անօթևանության հարցի լուծմանն ուղղված խոշոր ծրագիր էր նաև «Ուրբան» ինստիտուտի՝ վկայագրով բնակարանի գնման ծրագիրը. 2000-2004 թվականներին մարզում բնակարան ձեռք բերեց 4 838 ընտանիք (4 091-ը՝ Գյումրիում):

Վերջին տարիներին պետական բնակարանաշինական ծրագրեր քաղաքում չեն իրականացվել: Քաղաքի նոր իշխանությունները փորձում են անօթևանության խնդիրը մեղմել ու տնակները քաղաքից վերացնել տարբեր բարեգործական կազմակերպությունների ու հիմնադրամների միջոցներով. 40 բնակարան կկառուցվի «Հայաստան» համահայկական, 16 բնակարան՝ «ԱՌՔ» բարեգործական հիմնադրամի կողմից:

«Երկու դեպքում էլ որպես խիստ նախապայման լինելու է տնակների ազատումը»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում այս մասին նշեց Գյումրու քաղաքապետ Վարդգես Սամսոնյանը: Քաղաքապետը տեղեկացրեց, որ այս պահին կա 2 776 տնակ, որոնցից 508-ը փակ են: ՀՀ կառավարությունը փորձ արեց աղետի գոտու տնակներն «ուշադրության կենտրոնում պահել», սակայն համավարակն ու Արցախյան պատերազմը խնդիրը ստվերում թողեցին:

«Հուսով եմ, որ 2022 թվականին կառավարության կողմից կլինեն լուծումներ: Տնակում բնակվող յուրաքանչյուր ընտանիք անհատական մոտեցում է պահանջում»,- նշում է քաղաքապետը:
