Չեչկոն ձերբակալվել է դեկտեմբերի 16-ին՝ սահմանային գոտում։ Նա քաղաքական ապաստան է խնդրել Մինսկից «միգրացիոն ճգնաժամի հետ կապված Լեհաստանի ներկայիս քաղաքականության հետ անհամաձայնության և փախստականների նկատմամբ անմարդկային վերաբերմունքի համար»։ Նա խոստովանել է, որ ինքը ստիպված է եղել գնդակահարել փախստականներին։
