Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգները  հանձնառու է աջակցել Հայաստանի ժողովրդավարությանը և դժվարին պահերին հայ ժողովրդի կողքին է: «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ այս մասին հայտարարեց ԱՄՆ Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի խոսնակ Նենսի Փելոսին՝ Երևանում, «Գաֆէսճեան արվեստի կենտրոնում իր ելույթում:

Փելոսին նախ ընդգծեց, որ ինքն ԱՄՆ Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի առաջին խոսնակն է, որ այցելում է Հայաստան: «Ես հիմա կանգնած եմ երկու երկրների դրոշների մեջտեղում, սա փաստում է Հայաստանի հետ մեր գործընկերությունը»,-նշեց Փելոսին:

Նա ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսի շնորհավորանքները հղեց Հայաստանի՝ սեպտեմբերի 21-ի՝ Հայաստանի անկախության տոնին ընդառաջ:

«Սա մեզ համար, կարծես, ընտանեկան այցելություն է: Մենք (հեղ.-կոնգրեսականները) այնպիսի տարածքներից են ընտրված, որտեղ ամերիկահայերը շատ մեծ թիվ են կազմում: Նրանք հայրենասեր ամերիկացիներ են և շատ հպարտ են իրենց հայկական ծագումով: Նրանք այդ մասին մեզ շատ հստակ ասել են: Մենք հետևում ենք հայաստանյան մարտահրավերներին՝ նաև մեր ընտրողների աչքերով»,- նշեց խոսնակը:

Նա ընդգծեց՝ շատ հպարտ են, որ ի վերջո կարողացան ընդունել Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին բանաձևը:

«Ջո Բայդենը Հայաստանի բարեկամն է, և մենք հպարտ ենք, որ նա ստորագրեց, նաև ՀՀ վարչապետին հրավիրեց ժողովրդավարության գագաթնաժողովին, որը շատ կարևոր իրադարձություն էր: Այստեղ եմ ես՝ ասելու, որ ԱՄՆ-ն հանձնառու է աջակցել Հայաստանի ժողովրդավարությանը: Եվ մենք դժվարին պահերին հայ ժողովրդի կողքին ենք, երբ պայքար է ընթանում ժողովրդավարության և ավտոկրատիայի միջև։ Հայաստանն այն վայրն է, որտեղ  մենք կարող ենք այս հակասություններին ակնառու տեսնել»,-ասաց Փելոսին:
