Իսպանիայի Պոնտեւեդրա քաղաքում ընթացող հունահռոմեական ըմբշամարտի աշխարհի մինչեւ 23 տարեկանների առաջնությունում Հայաստանի երկրորդ ներկայացուցիչը դուրս եկավ եզրափակիչ:

87 կգ քաշային Գեւորգ Թադեւոսյանը լարված պայքարում 6:4 հաշվով հաղթեց Ղազախստանի ներկայացուցիչ Մակսաթ Սաիլաուին եւ կպայքարի աշխարհի չեմպիոնի տիտղոսի համար:

Թադեւոսյանն առաջին մրցափուլում պարտվում էր 2:4 հաշվով, երկրորդ մրցափուլում ճնշումն ավելացնելով՝ հաշիվը դարձրեց 6:4։ Երկրորդ մրցափուլում երբ Թադեւոսյանը երկրորդ 2-միավորանոց հնարքն էր անում, մրցակիցը փորձեց մանիպուլյացիա անել՝ մրցավարներին համոզելով, որ հայ ըմբիշը բռնել է նրան բերանից: Ղազախ ըմբիշը իր մարզիչից նաեւ չելենջ ուզեց, բայց մարզիչը չգցեց: Գորգի եւ կողային մրցավարները չհաշվեցին նրա բողոքը, 1 միավոր ավելացրեցին Գեւորգ Թադեւոսյանի հաշվին եւ նկատողություն տվեցին ղազախին: Այս դրվագից հետո Մակսաթ Սաիլաուն ոչ սպորտային վարքով էր գոտեմարտ վարում:

Ավելի վաղ եզրափակիչ էր դուրս եկել նաեւ աշխարհի եւ Եվրոպայի չեմպիոն Մալխաս Ամոյանը: 77 կգ քաշայինների կիսաեզրափակիչում Ամոյանը 9:5 հաշվով կամային հաղթանակ էր տարել  ճապոնացի Նաո Կուսակայի նկատմամբ:

Առաջին մրցումային օրը պայքարի մեջ մտած Հայաստանի երրորդ ներկայացուցիչ 63 կգ քաշային Հրաչյա Պողոսյանը մեկնարկում 1:1 հաշվով մոլդովացի Վիտալի Երեմենկոյին հաղթելուց հետո, քառորդ եզրափակիչում 3:1 հաշվով պարտվել էր Գեորգի Շոտաձեին:
