Արիզոնայի համալսարանի գիտնականները պարզել են, որ կապվածությունից խուսափող մարդիկ ավելի հաճախ են օգտագործում ծանոթության համար նախատեսված հավելվածներ և բացասաբար են գնահատում «մեկանգամյա» սեքսը, սեռական հարաբերությունից հետո հայտնում են իրենց դժգոհության և մեղքի զգացման մասին:

Կապվածության տեսակը զուգընկերոջ հետ հարաբերություններ ձևավորելու միջոց է: Ընդունված է տարբերակել չորս հիմնական մոդելներ՝ հուսալի, անհանգիստ, խուսափող և անհանգիստ-խուսափող։ Ապահովված տեսակի կապվածություն ունեցող մարդը չի վախենում մտերմությունից, կախված չէ ուրիշից և գիտի, թե ինչպես սեր ստանալ և տալ: Երկրորդ տեսակին բնորոշ է լքված լինելու խորը վախը, երրորդին` զգացմունքային մտերմության վախը: Չորրորդ տեսակը միավորում է վերը նշված վախերը։
