«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է. «Այս օրերին տեղեկություններ են շրջանառվում, որ պաշտպանության նախարարությունում մանրամասն ստուգումներ են իրականացվում, այդ թվում՝ ՊՎԾ կողմից: Պետական գերատեսչություններում ստուգումներն, իհարկե, նորություն չեն: Սակայն, իշխանական մեր աղբյուրի պնդմամբ, ներկայիս ստուգումներն առաջին հերթին նպատակ ունեն, այսպես ասած, «բռի մեջ պահել» պաշտպանության նախարար Սուրեն Պապիկյանին և նրան ամբողջովին կախել Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի «կրյուչոկից», իսկ հետագայում որևէ հարմար պահի ազատել նախարարի պաշտոնից:

Այդպիսով, Փաշինյանը մի քանի հարց կլուծի՝ զսպել Պապիկյանի ինքնուրույնության դրսևորումները թե՛ կուսակցության մեջ, թե՛ ՊՆ-ում, հատկապես հաշվի առնելով այն տեղեկությունները, որ Պապիկյանը համարվում է Փաշինյանի պաշտոնի երկու հավակնորդներից մեկը, եթե վերջինիս հետագա պաշտոնավարումն այլևս անհնար լինի, ինչպես նաև ունենալ անվերապահ, լիարժեք վերահսկողություն ՊՆ-ում: Մեր աղբյուրի պատմելով՝ այս ամենը հիանալի հասկանում է Պապիկյանը, որն իր «խաղն» է սկսել:

Ի մասնավորի, ըստ մեր տեղեկությունների, նա մեկնել է Մոսկվա՝ ակնկալելով ստանալ իր պաշտոնակից Շոյգուի աջակցությունը: Արտաքին աշխարհից, մասնավորապես Մոսկվայից աջակցություն ստանալու համար, սակայն, փոքր-ինչ ժամանակ է պետք լինելու, իսկ մինչ այդ Պապիկյանը, ըստ քպական մեր զրուցակցի, փորձելու է իր մարդկանցով ՔՊ-ում իր դիրքերն ավելի ամրացնել»:
