Հայաստանի բռնցքամարտի ֆեդերացիայի նախագահ Հովհաննես Հովսեփյանը բռնցքամարտիկ Էրիկ Իսրայելյան քայլերը որակում է շանտաժի միջոցով փող մուրալու միջոց:

«Ցավում եմ, որ Էրիկ Իսրայելյանը մանիպուլյացիոն գործողություններով փող մուրալու գործընթաց է իրականացնում: Անձամբ ես և Հայաստանի բռնցքամարտի ֆեդերացիան Էրիկի համար շատ բան ենք արել, այդ թվում և Եվրոպայի առաջնությունում նրա չեմպիոն դառնալու համար, ու եթե ինքն ու իր անձնական մարզիչը դրա մասին չեն բարձրաձայնում ու իրենց չեմպիոն դառնալը դրոշակ դարձրած միայն պահանջներ են ներկայացնում, դա ստորություն է: Ընդ որում, Էրիկ Իսրայելյանը չեմպիոն դառնալուց հետո ինձ դիմել է ընտանեկան հարցերով օգնության համար, և ես տվել եմ այդ օգնությունը, հետո պարզել եմ, որ նա նման խնդրանքներով դիմել է նաև իմ ընկերներին ու մեր որոշ տիտղոսակիր մարզիկներին: Նա իբր վատ ապրելու իր կարգավիճակը ուզվորություն անելու շարժառիթ է դարձրել ու անընդհատ փող է ուզում: Ես Եվրոպայի առաջնությունից հետո ցանկանում էի նրա հետ խոսել, բայց իմացա, որ նա ամոթը կորցրել ու իր կարիքները հոգալու համար փող է ուզել նույնիսկ Հունաստանի հավաքականի ներկայացուցչից, մինչդեռ Բուլղարիայում Եվրոպայի առաջնության ժամանակ, մեր թիմը ոչնչի կարիք չի ունեցել, այդ թվում՝ հավելյալ սննդի, անգամ՝ դեղորայքի: Այս և այլ բացասական երևույթներն իմանալով՝ ես չցանկացա խոսել ՝ համարելով դա անիմաստ: Նա պարզապես անուղղելի կերպար է, և փորձում է շանտաժ ու մանիպուլյացիա անելով փող մուրալ և անհեթեթ պահանջներ ներկայացնել: Նա նշում է, որ կհրաժարվի Հայաստանը ներկայացնել, եթե իրեն փող չտան: Կարծում եմ՝ ոչ մի արժանապատիվ ու իր հայրենիքը իսկապես սիրող հայ նման հայտարարություն չէր անի: Էրիկը թող չմոռանա, որ ինքը դեռևս երիտասարդների չեմպիոն է, մինչդեռ շատ ավելի տիտղոսակիր մարզիկներ երբևէ իրենց թույլ չեն տվել նման պահանջատիրական հայտարարություններ անել: Փոխարենը նրանք աչքի են ընկել համեստությամբ, որը գնահատվել է, և նրանք իրենց արժանի պարգևները ստացել են: Վստահեցնում եմ, որ, անկախ ամեն ինչից, ֆեդերացիան Էրիկ Իսրայելյանի համար ավելին է արել, քան պետք էր: Դրա մասին գիտեն նաև բռնցքամարտի աշխարհի շատ այլ ներկայացուցիչներ»,ասված ֆեդերացիայի նախագահի խոսքում: 

Բռնցքամարտիկ Էրիկ Իսրայելյանը ֆեյսբուքում ավելի վաղ գրել էր, որ ԿԳՄՍ-ից չի ստացել 4 մլն 600 հազար դրամ: Իսկ ահա նախարարությունը նախօրեին պարզաբանման միջոցով հրապարակել էր այն գումարին կտրոնները, որոնք  ստացել է մարզիկը:
