Նա, մասնավորապես, նշել է. «Մայիսի 22-ի ասուլիսում Փաշինյանն ասել է. «1997-ին Լեւոն Տեր-Պետրոսյանը հրապարակել է իր «Պատերազմ, թե խաղաղություն. Լրջանալու պահը» հոդվածը, որտեղ ասել է, որ ԼՂ անկախության հարցում մենք բարեկամներ չունենք եւ ըստ էության, ասել է, որ դա հնարավոր չէ»:

Նման հետեւողական քաղաքականության շնորհիվ էր, որ 1997-ին առաջին անգամ ստացանք ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահության Փուլային առաջարկը, որում այլեւս որեւէ խոսք չկար Ադրբեջանի տարածքային ամբողջականության պահպանման մասին։ Խաղաղություն հաստատող միջպետական այդ պայմանագիրը պետք է հավասարազոր կարգավիճակով ստորագրեին Հայաստանը, Ադրբեջանը եւ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղը։

Ավելին, պայմանագրի հոդվածներից մեկը սահմանում էր, որ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի վերջնական կարգավիճակը կորոշվի այդ երեք կողմերի ապագա բանակցություններով։ Սրանով, իհարկե, անկախության հարցը չէր լուծվում, բայց ԵԱՀԿ-ի հովանավորությամբ միջազգային նման փաստաթուղթ ստորագրելով Լեռնային Ղարաբաղը ձեռք էր բերում անկախ պետությանը հավասար միջազգային իրավասուբյեկտայնություն, իսկ դա հսկայական քայլ էր լինելու ԼՂ անկախության միջազգային ճանաչման ուղղությամբ։

Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը նորից ստում է միայն մեկ նպատակով՝ հասարակության մեջ տպավորություն ստեղծելու, որ այն ռազմական եւ դիվանագիտական աղետը, որին նա տարավ մեր ազգին, տեղի էր ունեցել, իբր, անցյալում, դեռ մինչեւ իր իշխանության գալը։

Փաշինյանը այստեղ էլ չի կարողանա կեղծել ճշմարտությունը։ Այն է՝ նա Հայաստանի առաջին ղեկավարն է, որը հրաժարվում է Արցախի անկախության գաղափարից եւ հանձնում այն Ադրբեջանին։
