Armenia legislature head does not rule out separating border delimitation matter from peace treaty with Azerbaijan

The border delimitation and demarcation process can take a very long time; I do not rule out that such an option may be acceptable for Armenia. Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, told this to reporters in the NA Friday—and referring to the statement by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the president of Azerbaijan, that the matter of border delimitation should be separated from the peace treaty between the two countries.

"I believe we [i.e. Armenia] can consider such a course of action because it could take much longer, even years, in terms of time. A country going toward true peace will not see any obstacles in such things. Something like this may also happen after specifying some matters, after signing the peace treaty, after bringing the societies to a climate of peace and to peace; but that is my opinion," said Simonyan.

And to the question whether this can cause new problems, the Armenian NA speaker responded as follows: "That's why I said that if the state goes for peace. Three peace treaties can be signed, and three hours later attack one another. And the process of border delimitation, demarcation can take a really long time."
