Գերմանիայի պաշտպանության նախարար Բորիս Պիստորիուսն ուկրաինական ռազմաճակատում ստեղծված իրավիճակը փակուղային է համարում։ Այս մասին նա հայտնել է Bild տաբլոիդին տված մեկնաբանությունում։  «Իրավիճակը, փաստորեն, մտել է փակուղի։ Ոչ մի կողմից տարածքային ձեռքբերումներ չկան։», - ասել է Պիստորիուսը հրատարակության լրագրողին: Նա նաև հերքել է ԶԼՄ-ների հաղորդագրությունները Մեծ Բրիտանիայի հետ հեռահար հրթիռների հնարավոր շրջանաձև փոխանակման մասին՝ դրանք Ուկրաինային մատակարարելու նպատակով։  Պիստորիուսն ասել է, որ տեղյակ չէ այն պնդումների մասին, թե Լոնդոնն, իբր, առաջարկել է Բեռլինին Taurus հրթիռներ ուղարկել բրիտանացիներին, և որ Ուկրաինան դրա դիմաց կստանա բրիտանական «Storm Shadows»-ներ: Իր հերթին՝  Ուկրաինայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Դմիտրի Կուլեբան էլ քննադատել է Արևմուտքին՝ նշելով, որ ԿԺԴՀ-ն ավելի լավ է օգնում Ռուսաստանին արկերով, քան Արևմուտքը՝ Ուկրաինային։

Կիևում գնալով սրվում է մտահոգությունը կապված նրա հետ, որ Ուկրաինան կարող է զրկվել ԱՄՆ-ի ու ԵՄ–ի ռազմական աջակցությունից և ստիպված կլինի նվազեցնել ռազմական գործողությունների ինտենսիվությունը` լրջորեն մտածելով ՌԴ–ի հետ բանակցելու մասին։ Ընդ որում, Ուկրաինային ՌԴ–ի հետ բանակցելու մեսիջները հղում է հենց Արևմուտքը՝ հեղինակավոր լրատվամիջոցներում լույս տեսնող հոդվածներում ակնարկելով, որ Կիևը պետք է դիտարկի Մոսկվայի հետ բանակցությունների սեղանի շուրջ նստելու տարբերակը: Պետդեպարտամենտի մամուլի ծառայության ղեկավար Մեթյու Միլլերի խոսքով՝ Վաշինգտոնը երբեք չի պնդել, որ Կիևը կտրականապես հրաժարվի բանակցություններից։ Փաստացի Արևմուտքը լվանում է ձեռքերն Ուկրաինայից, իսկ ընդամենը մեկ տարի առաջ  ԱՄՆ-ն և ԵՄ-ն խոստանում էին աջակցել Կիևին մինչև վերջ և նպաստել ՌԴ–ի դեմ վերջինիս հաղթանակին:

Այս իրավիճակը լավագույն կերպով ի ցույց է դնում այն թեզը, որ Արևմուտքը հմուտ կերպով օգտագործում է հետխորհրդային երկրները ՌԴ–ի դեմ՝ ձգտվելով նրանց միջոցով և նրանց ձեռքերով թուլացնել Մոսկվայի դիրքերն աշխարհաքաղաքական խաղատախտակի վրա: Այնուհետև, առանց աչքն անգամ թարթելու, զոհաբերում է այդ երկրները հանուն իր շահերի: Հենց դա է այսօր տեղի ունենում Ուկրաինայի հետ և հենց այս իրավիճակից պետք է դասեր քաղեն ՀՀ իշխանությունները, որոնք պատերազմից հինգ պակաս իրավիճակում շարունակում են լարել հարաբերությունները ռազմավարական դաշնակից ՌԴ-ի հետ և համառորեն թեքվում են դեպի Արևմուտք և ՆԱՏՕ՝ վտանգելով ՀՀ անվտանգությունն ու կենսական շահերը:
