«Հակառուսականության այս ալիքը Հայաստանում ունի սուբյեկտիվ և օբյեկտիվ պատճառներ: Մի բան ակնհայտ է՝ այն ունենալու է հետևանք, որն այսօր կանխատեսել պարզապես հնարավոր չէ: Կարևորը հայկական աշխարհի համար նպաստավոր ելք, ապագա ապահովվի:

Այս իրավիճակում կուզենամ խիստ կարևոր մեկ փաստ հիշեցնել, բարձրաձայնել՝ մոլորակի վրա չկա ուրիշ որևէ այլ երկիր, որը քառասունչորսօրյա պատերազմի ընթացքում ռազմաքաղաքական իր հնարավորություններով Հայաստանի համար ավելին արած լինի, քան Ռուսաստանը: Սա փաստ է, որը չի կարող ժխտվել ինչպես գործող իշխանությունների, այնպես էլ ծայրահեղ հակառուս ուժերի կողմից:

Պատերազմի ընթացքում Սյունիքում ռուսական զորքերի տեղակայումը, ամեն մի նոր հենակետի հիմնումը, որտեղ ծածանվում էր ռուսական դրոշը, մենք ընդունում էինք խանդավառությամբ և զգացումով, որ հզոր դաշնակից ունենք մեր կողքին: Այն զսպող ուժ էր հակառակորդի համար:

Չի կարելի ապերախտ լինել: Առանձին դեպքերում դա նմանվում է դավաճանության:

Գուցե ավելին կարելի էր ակնկալել Ռուսաստանից: Որևէ մեկը չի կարող դա վիճարկել, սակայն փաստը մնում փաստ, որ Ռուսաստանը գտնվել է ռազմավարական դաշնակցի դիրքում և ի վերջո նրա ջանքերով է կանգնեցվել պատերազմը, ինչը ևս պարտադիր պետք է հիշել ու գնահատել ...

Այս գրառմամբ ես որևէ կերպ չեմ ուզում թերագնահատել մեր մյուս բարեկամ երկրներին, պարզապես ճշմարտությունը պետք է իմանալ և ներկայացնել հանրությանը»:
