Հանրապետության նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանին իր հավատարմագրերն է հանձնել Հայաստանում Ավստրալիայի արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Ջոն Գիրինգը (նստավայրը՝ Մոսկվա):

Նախագահ Խաչատուրյանը շնորհավորել է նորանշանակ դեսպանին իր առաքելությունը ստանձնելու առթիվ և վստահություն հայտնել, որ վերջինս առավելագույն ջանք կներդնի հայ-ավստրալական կապերի առավել ամրապնդման ու զարգացման ուղղությամբ։ «Մեր երկիրը Ավստրալիայի հետ ունի իսկապես ջերմ հարաբերություններ: Վստահ եմ, որ Ձեր նշանակումը կնպաստի մեր գործակցության առավել ակտիվացմանն ու խորացմանը»,-նշել է նախագահը՝ դեսպանին մաղթելով հաջողություններ:

Դեսպան Ջոն Գիրինգը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել ընդունելության համար և ընդգծել, որ պատրաստ է անել ամեն հնարավորը՝ Հայաստանի և Ավստրալիայի միջև կապերի ամրապնդման ու խորացման համար:

Հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են երկու երկրների միջև առևտրատնտեսական, բարձր տեխնոլոգիաների և այլ ոլորտներում փոխգործակցության ակտիվացման հնարավորությունները: Անդրադարձ է կատարվել կողմերի միջև քաղաքական խորհրդակցությունների անցկացման, ինչպես նաև խորհրդարանական դիվանագիտության խթանման կարևորությանը, ինչը կարևոր ազդակ կհանդիսանա տարբեր ուղղություններով Հայաստանի և Ավստրալիայի գործընկերության ամրապնդման համար:

Զրույցի ընթացքում մտքեր են փոխանակվել Հայաստանի քաղաքացիների համար Ավստրալիա մուտքի արտոնագրային ռեժիմի դյուրացման հեռանկարների վերաբերյալ:

Հանդիպմանը Հայաստանի նախագահը նորանշանակ դեսպանի ուշադրությունն է հրավիրել Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում հայկական և քրիստոնեական մշակութային ժառանգության ոչնչացման սպառնալիքի վրա, ինչը պետք է անթույլատրելի դառնա առաջադեմ հանրության միահամուռ ջանքերով: Նախագահն անդրադարձել է նաև Լեռնային Ղարաբաղից բռնի տեղահանվածների սոցիալ-հումանիտար և այլ խնդիրների լուծման ուղղությամբ Հայաստանի կառավարության կողմից իրականացվող ծրագրերին և այս համատեքստում, ի դեմս դեսպանի՝ շնորհակալություն հայտնել Ավստրալիայի ղեկավարությանը ցուցաբերած մարդասիրական աջակցության համար:
