Deputy Foreign Minister presents to CIS Council of Foreign Ministers Armenia's stance on session's agenda issues

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan on April 12 participated in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states, the foreign ministry said.

Within the framework of the meeting,  the heads of  the delegations exchanged ideas on regional agenda issues and discussed the cooperation within the framework of the CIS. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia presented the position of the Armenian side regarding the agenda issues of the session.

 In the context of realizing the potential of economic cooperation between the CIS member states, Mnatsakan Safaryan mentioned the importance of the "Crossroad of Peace" project presented by the Government of Armenia, which involves unblocking transport and communication routes and creating a network based on the sovereignty and jurisdiction of states, as well as the principles of equality and reciprocity. 

Regarding the current regional processes, the importance of adhering to the cornerstone documents of the CIS has been underscored. These include the Agreement on the Establishment of the CIS and the provisions of the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, which outline the parties' commitments to peaceful dispute resolution, mutual recognition of territorial integrity, indivisibility, and respect for borders.

Among other documents adopted at the session, the statement 'On Ensuring Safe Conditions for the Professional Activities of Journalists and the Inadmissibility of Violations of their Rights' was adopted. In particular, it emphasized the provision of necessary conditions for the free and independent work of journalists in accordance with the national legislation of the state of accreditation, as well as the inadmissibility of publications with offensive content about people and national values of the CIS member states.
