Heavy flooding in Balkans
WorldThe Balkan countries have been flooded due to incessant rains.
In southern Serbia the river Moravica burst its banks and flooded 50 homes with local residents have to be evacuated.
There are complicated situations in the Serbian towns of Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo, where rain has continued nonstop for over a day.
Severe flooding has been reported in neighboring countries as well.
In eastern and central Macedonia, 300 homes were flooded, two bridges were washed away and about 20,000 people were left without electricity.
In the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo dozens of buildings as well as nearby farmland were flooded.
According to weather forecasts heavy rains will continue in the Balkans until the end of February.
