Google to map Russia’s Sochi ahead of 2014 Olympic Games
SportGoogle has revealed it is going to introduce a package of geolocation services featuring Russia’s city of Sochi, the host of 2014 Olympic Games.
The city will appear in Google’s Street View, which provides panoramic views from positions along many streets in the world.
Yulia Solovyova, CEO of Google Russia, told the Digit.ru news agency Sochi maps will be a major breakthrough for the company’s local branch.
Earlier in March, Google Street View came to include panoramas of some 200 Russian cities in its Russia folder. The same month, the global map maker extended its Maps service by detailed layouts of over a hundred Russian cities.
