Armenian Press

Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in part: The meeting between a group of residents of Kirants community of Tavush Province and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the previous day took place in a very tense atmosphere.

According to one of the participants, Pashinyan threatened the people of Kirants, from the beginning to the end of the meeting, that they will not be able to resist. He said that if they do not [re]open the road or obstruct the border delimitation and demarcation work, it’s all the same; they will carry out this work by force.

One of the villagers said that he will put a tank in front of his house, the other will set it on fire, they will do everything to prevent Azerbaijanis from entering Kirants. Pashinyan said that it is useless, whatever you do, you can't change anything.

In addition to scaring, he also chastised his compatriots [by saying] approximately that you don't want to give up a piece of your land to save the whole of Armenia, to prevent the war. He said that this process is being done for the sake of Armenia's independence, existence.

During the meeting with Nikol Pashinyan, the people of Kirants, who have been protesting for more than ten days, have been keeping the Kirants section of the interstate road closed, trying to prevent the [Armenian] authorities from making unilateral concessions, were informed that the new Armenian-Azerbaijani border will not cross the middle of the bridge in the middle of the village, but deeper. Pashinyan said that the village could be divided, most of it will pass to Azerbaijan, as a result of the upcoming work of specialists, it will be decided where exactly the border will be drawn.

(…) He tried again to put the blame on the Russians, saying that the Russians want it that way, which is not to his liking.

At the same time, he gave zero guarantee of safety, saying that after implementing the process, you may live peacefully for 7 days, but he cannot say what will happen on the 8th day. He tried to reassure them that those who will lose their homes will receive compensation, they will discuss this matter. But the people of Kirants scolded Pashinyan, they said that they do not want to discuss this topic at all, they are not going to put their homeland up for auction.
