Արգենտինայում ՀՀ դեսպանությունում հունվարի 5-ին տեղի է ունեցել արգենտինացի հայտնի իրավաբան, Միջազգային քրեական դատարանի առաջին գլխավոր դատախազ Լուիս Մորենո Օկամպոյին՝ ՀՀ նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանի անունից՝ երախտագիտության մեդալի շնորհման արարողությունը: Այս մասին հայտնում են ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմից։

Ներկայացնելով Մորենո Օկամպոյի գործունեությունը՝ դեսպան Հովհաննես Վիրբյանը ընդգծեց, որ վերջինս մեծ ավանդ ունի աշխարհում մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանութան գործում, հավելեց, որ Մորենո Օկամոպոն իր զեկույցով օգնեց հանրայնացնել արցախահայության հանդեպ իրականացվող հանցագործությունը և ճշգրիտ իրավական գնահատական տալ տեղի ունեցող իրադարձություններին: Նշվեց, որ մեդալը ոչ միայն Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի 120 000 բնակչի, այլ նաև Հայաստանի յուրաքանչյուր քաղաքացու և ողջ հայության երախտագիտության հանրագումարն է:

Միջոցառման ընթացքում ցուցադրվեց Հանրապետության նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանի տեսուղերձը, որտեղ ՀՀ նախագահը շնորհակալություն հայտնեց և բարձր գնահատեց Լուիս Մորենո Օկամպոյի կատարած աշխատանքը, որպես հեղինակավոր իրավաբան և մարդասեր՝ արցախահայության կյանքի, սեփականության և վերադաձի իրավունքները պաշտպանելու և ցեղասպանությանը կանխարգելմանը նպաստելու ուղղությամբ: Այնուհետև դեսպանը Հանրապետության նախագահի անունից Երախտագիտության մեդալը փոխանցեց Լուիս Մորենո Օկամպոյին, նախ շնորհակալություն հայտնեց ՀՀ նախագահին, ապա նշեց, որ իր համար պատիվ է ցեղասպանության կանխարգելմանն գործին նպաստ բերելը: Հավելեց, որ հայերի համար դժվար էր հաշտվել այն մտքի հետ, որ կրկին հայ ազգը ցեղասպանության զոհ է: Ընդգծեց, որ այդ վտանգը դեռ առկա է: Այդ համատեքստում կարևորեց հայկական սփյուռքի ներուժը և համախմբված ու շարունակական գործունեությունը՝ հատուկ նշելով արգենտինահայ համայնքի օրինակը:

Միջոցառմանը ներկա էին տարբեր պաշտոնյաներ, դիվանագիտական կորպուսի, հայ համայնքի և լրատվական միջոցների ներկայացուցիչներ:
