Христианские лидеры Британии направили письмо правительству с призывом признать Геноцид армян. Об этом сообщает «Cruxnow», цитируя статью Чарльза Колинза.

В письме, адресованном премьер-министру Великобритании, руководители церквей заявили, что такое официальное признание является не просто символическим, а «мощным заявлением против зверств и шагом к предотвращению будущих геноцидов».

Автор статьи напоминает, что массовые убийства армян в Османской империи в конце Первой мировой войны были официально признаны геноцидом многими странами мира.

24 апреля армяне всего мира вспоминают жертв Геноцида, который, по словам руководителей церквей, глубоко тронул миллионы людей и продолжает оставаться в их коллективной памяти.

В письме также говорится о событиях, происшедших в Нагорном Карабахе. Священнослужители отметили, что после разрушительной войны в НК в 2020 году Азербайджан в 2023 году начал кампанию против Нагорного Карабаха, целью которой была этническая чистка армян республики.

Они также напомнили о девятимесячной блокаде Нагорного Карабаха со стороны Азербайджана, подчеркнув, что это было свидетельством геноцидальной политики Баку.

«Сегодня правительство Азербайджана при поддержке Турции продолжает угрожать Армении и оказывать давление с целью получения контроля над ее новыми территориями. Подобный акт признания не только почтил бы память жертв и обеспечил справедливость, но и подтвердил приверженность Великобритании защите прав человека. Признание Великобританией Геноцида армян также станет очевидным сигналом для Турции и Азербайджана по прекращению агрессии против Армении», - отметили священнослужители.
