Դեկտեմբերի 12-ին ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարար Սուրեն Պապիկյանի պաշտոնական այցը Կիպրոսի Հանրապետություն մեկնարկել է դիմավորման հանդիսավոր արարողությամբ՝ Կիպրոսի ազգային գվարդիայի պատվո պահակախմբի և զինվորական նվագախմբի մասնակցությամբ։ Հնչել են Հայաստանի Հանրապետության և Կիպրոսի Հանրապետության պետական օրհներգերը:
 
Այնուհետև տեղի է ունեցել ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարար Սուրեն Պապիկյանի և Կիպրոսի Հանրապետության պաշտպանության նախարար Միխալիս Յորղալասի առանձնազրույցը, որին հաջորդել է ընդլայնված կազմով հանդիպում:
 
Հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են պաշտպանության բնագավառում հայ-կիպրական համագործակցությանն առնչվող մի շարք հարցեր:
Կողմերն ամփոփել են համագործակցության ներկայիս ընթացքն ու նախանշել դրա զարգացման նոր հնարավորությունները` պատրաստակամություն հայտնելով գործակցել ավելի ընդգրկուն օրակարգով՝ ուսումնավարժական ծրագրեր, փորձի փոխանակում տարբեր ոլորտներում, ռազմատեխնիկական համագործակցություն և փոխադարձ հետաքրքրություն ներկայացնող այլ հարցեր:
 
Սուրեն Պապիկյանն իր գործընկերոջը ներկայացրել է նաև ՀՀ կառավարության «Խաղաղության խաչմերուկ» նախագիծը:
 
Հանդիպման ավարտին երկու երկրների պաշտպանության նախարարները հանդես են եկել լրատվամիջոցների համար համատեղ հայտարարությամբ, որի ընթացքում վերահաստատել են հագեցած օրակարգով համագործակցելու պատրաստակամությունը։
