ՀՀ ԱԺ նախկին պատգամավոր, ՀՀԿ նախագահի տեղակալ, ընդդիմադիր քաղաքական գործիչ Արմեն Աշոտյանն իր էջում շնորհավորել է Սերժ Սարգսյանի տարեդարձը. նա գրել է.
 
«Երբեք այս օրը նշել չեք սիրել․ երբ իշխանության էիք՝ արհեստավարժ քծնողներից և պատեհապաշտ պատահականություններից խուսափելու համար։ Իսկ հիմա, ինչպես ժողովուրդն է ասում, սիրտ չունեք այսքան կորուստներից հետո մի պահ սուզվել այլ, սովորական մարդկանց կյանքում այդքան սիրված և սպասված օրվա մթնոլորտի մեջ։
Հիմա էլ Ձեզ կա՛մ աստվածացնում են, կա՛մ դեմոնիզացնում՝ այս երկու ծայրահեղությունների մեջ հաճախ մոռանալով , որ Դուք մարդ եք, հայ մարդ, կարգին մարդ, Մարդ՝ մեծատառով։
 
Պարադոքսալ եք․ Ձեզ համար զգացմունքներ և էմոցիաներ արտահայտելը շռայլություն է, իսկ Դուք շռայլություններ չեք սիրում։ Սակայն միաժամանակ չափից ավելի բարոյական եք ոչ միայն աղբակույտի մեջ թաղված հայկական քաղաքականության, այլև նույնիսկ սովորական, առօրյա կյանքի համար։
 
Մեկ այլ պարադոքս էլ է լինելու այսօր․ Ձեզ շրջապատող մարդիկ՝ ընտանիքը, ընկերները, գործընկերները, տարվա մեջ հենց այս օրը Ձեզ չեն լսելու (վստահ եմ) և (հոբելյարի ցանկությանը հակառակ) հրապարակավ և ջերմորեն շնորհավորելու են Ձեզ։
 
Կռահում եմ, որ կգտնեք ձևը Ձեր դժգոհությունը փոխանցելու ինձ՝ «Արմենը խի՞ է նման բան գրել» պողպատե լակոնիկությամբ , բայց Ձեզանից հեռու գտնվելն այս ազատությունը տալիս է, անազատության մեջ ազատ արտահայտվելու ազատություն։
 
Աստված գիտի, թե ե՞րբ անձամբ կրկին կհանդիպեմ Ձեզ, մինչ այդ հնարավոր նախատինքը, հուսով եմ, այլևս արդիական չի լինի։
 
Ու թեպետ բանտախցում մենակ եմ և ալկոհոլ չունեմ՝ ուզում եմ բռունցքովս խփել Ձեր բաժակին և պարզ (ու անսահման) ճակատով ասել․
