Մեծ Բրիտանիայի և Հյուսիսային Իռլանդիայի Միացյալ Թագավորության արտաքին գործերի, համագործակցության և զարգացման նախարարության Եվրոպական հարևանության և Ամերիկայի հարցերով նախարար Ուենդի Մորթընը ժամանել է Հայաստան: Ուենդի Մորթընն այդ առթիվ գրառում է կատարել «Թվիթերի» իր միկրոբլոգում:

«Բարի օր Հայաստան: Հրաշալի է Հայաստանում առաջին անգամ լինելը: Ես վայելում եմ Երևան տանող ճանապարհի գեղեցիկ տեսարանները: Հայաստանը Միացյալ Թագավորության կարևոր և արժեքավոր գործընկերն է, և ես ակնկալում եմ մեր երկրների միջև առավել սերտ կապերի հաստատմանն իմ այս այցի ընթացքում»,-նշել է Ուենդի Մորթընը:

Նախարարը կլինի Երևանում և Վանաձորում: Ավելի վաղ Հայաստանում Մեծ Բրիտանիայի դեսպանությունը հայտնել էր, որ իր երկօրյա այցի ընթացքում նախարար Մորթընը ՀՀ արտաքին գործերի նախարարի տեղակալ Ավետ Ադոնցի հետ պաշտոնապես կբացի Բրիտանական դեսպանության նոր գրասենյակը Երևանում՝ ի նշան Միացյալ Թագավորության և Հայաստանի ժողովուրդների միջև ամրապնդվող կապերի։
