 Հայաստանի Հանրապետության նախագահ Արմեն Սարգսյանը շնորհակալական նամակ է հղել ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջո Բայդենին՝ հայ ժողովրդի և իր անունից երախտագիտություն հայտնելով Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչելու համար: Այս մասին հայտնեցին ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից: 

Նամակում մասնավորապես ասվում է.

«Դա համարձակ և ոգևորիչ քայլ է, որին սպասել ենք ավելի քան մեկ դար, և որը կարևոր է ամբողջ աշխարհի հայերի, այդ թվում՝ ամերիկահայերի համար, որոնք իրենց ողջ կյանքի ընթացքում ջանք և եռանդ չեն խնայել հանուն ճանաչման, և բոլոր նրանց համար, ովքեր արդարություն են փնտրել:

Հայաստանը նաև մեծապես գնահատում է 2019 թվականին ԱՄՆ Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը, որին հաջորդել էր ԱՄՆ Սենատի միասնական որոշումը: Նախագահի ուղերձը Միացյալ Նահանգների կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության պաշտոնական ճանաչման գործընթացում վճռորոշ է: Միացյալ Նահանգներն այդ հայտարարությամբ ոչ միայն իր հարգանքի տուրքն է մատուցում՝ ի հիշատակ մարդկության դեմ այդ սարսափելի ոճրագործության զոհերի, այլև դրանով պաշտպանում է մարդու իրավունքները, համընդհանուր արժեքները, ազատությունը և ժողովրդավարությունը:

Հայոց ցեղասպանության միջազգային ճանաչումն ու դատապարտումը կնպաստեն ողջ աշխարհում ցեղասպանությունների կանխարգելմանը և անպատժելիության վերացմանը:

Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը ոչ միայն պատմական սխալի շտկում է, այլև՝ հստակ ուղերձ Թուրքիային՝ զերծ մնալ իր նկրտումներից պայթյունավտանգ այս տարածաշրջանում»:

Նախագահ Սարգսյանը նամակում անդրադարձել է նաև հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների զարգացման հեռանկարներին՝ նշելով, որ Հայաստանն ու Միացյալ Նահանգները մշտապես կարևորել են ամուր գործընկերային հարաբերությունները՝ հիմնված փոխվստահության և այն խորացնելու պատրաստակամության վրա. «Կա ԱՄՆ-Հայաստան հարաբերությունները ուժեղացնելու և երկկողմ ու բազմակողմ օրակարգը համալրելու մեծ ներուժ:

Տնտեսության, նոր տեխնոլոգիաների, կենսատեխնոլոգիայի, արհեստական բանականության և այլ ոլորտներում համագործակցությունը խոստումնալից կարող է լինել երկկողմ հարաբերությունների համատեքստում:

Իմ լիարժեք պատրաստակամությունն եմ հայտնում տքնաջան աշխատելու  Ձեզ հետ՝ հասնելու այս կարևոր նպատակներին»:
