ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսական Ադամ Շիֆը խորապես մտահոգված է ադրբեջանական զինուժի կողմից Հայաստանի սահմանը հատելու մասին հրապարակումներով:

«Սա ևս մեկ վտանգավոր և սադրիչ գործողությունն է, որը կարող է հանգեցնել կյանքերի հետագա կորստի: Միացյալ նահանգների համար ժամանակն է հասկանալու, որ մեր քաղաքականությունն Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևին քաջալերում է լարել ռազմական իրավիճակը՝ մեծացնելով ևս մեկ պատերազմի ռիսկը»,-«Ֆեյսբուք» սոցիալական ցանցի իր էջում գրել է Ադամ Շիֆը:

Նա ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջո Բայդենի վարչակազմի հետ քննարկումների մեջ է և առաջարկել է առավել լայնորեն ներգրավվել Մինսկի խմբի ձևաչափում, որն այժմ ավելի քան երբևէ կարևոր է:

Կոնգերսականն ընդգծել է, որ Ադրբեջանն այս քայլերին դիմում է Պետդեպարտամենտի կողմից Ադրբեջանին ուղղակի օգնության սահմանափակումների մասին «Ազատության աջակցության ակտի» 907-րդ ուղղման անհիմն չեղյալ հայտարարումից ընդամենն օրեր անց: «Մենք չպետք է ռազմական ֆինանսավորում տրամադրենք մի ազգի, որը սովորաբար ներգրավվում է մարդու իրավունքների խախտումներում և ոտնահարում իր հարևանների ինքնիշխանությունը»,- նշել է կոնգրեսական Շիֆը:

Մայիսի 12-ի առավոտյան Ադրբեջանի զինված ուժերը Սյունիքի մարզի Սև լիճ տեղանքում և հարակից տարածքում հատել են Հայաստանի Հանրապետության պետական սահմանը և խորացել մինչև 3,5 կիլոմետր՝ փորձ անելով պարփակել Սև լիճը: ՀՀ վարչապետի պաշտոնակատար Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը հայտարարել է, որ այս գործողություններն անհանդուրժելի են Հայաստանի Հանրապետության համար, որովհետև դա ոտնձգություն է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության ինքնիշխան տարածքի նկատմամբ: Փաշինյանը գործողությունն իր էությամբ դիվերսիոն անցում է որակել:
