Due to long talks and special measures taken last night, law-enforcers freed one of the policemen and an ambulance driver, who had earlier been taken by a group of armed people that attacked a police station in Yerevan, reads a release by Armenia’s National Security Service.
However, the armed people refuse to free the other hostages, including high-ranking police officers and surrender themselves to the authorities.
The hostages’ life and health are endangered. The terrorists, who have committed a number of crimes and have quantities of weapons at their disposal, pose an immediate threat both to the hostages and to society.
Armenia’s law-enforcement agencies are doing their utmost to find a peaceful solution to the crisis. Law-enforcers are urging the armed group to end the armed confrontation to avoid new victims and other grave consequences.
