Ինչպես հայտնում է ֆոտոլրագրող Գագիկ Շամշյանը, վերջինս գտնվելիս է եղել արձակուրդում և Սևանի լողափերից մեկում ընտանիքի հետ հանգստանալիս է եղել, երբ նկատել է, որ մի խումբ անձինք անհարգալից վերաբերմունք են ցուցաբերում հասարակության նկատմամբ, բարձրաձայն հայհոյանքներ են հնչեցնում, և Ա. Սահակյանը հորդորել է նրանց դադարեցնեն նման անհարգալից պահվածքը, ինչը դուր չի եկել նրանց ու հարձակվել ու ծեծի են ենթարկել նրան։

Վերջինը նաև կոտրվածք է ստացել ու տեղափոխվել է «Սևան» բժշկական կենտրոն, որտեղ առաջին բուժօգնություն ստանալուց հետո տեղափոխվել է Երևանի հիվանդանոցներից մեկը։ 

Դեպքի փաստով Սևանի քննչական բաժնում նախաձեռնվել է քրեական վարույթ։ Ոստիկանությունը ձեռնարկում է անհրաժեշտ օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումներ՝ դեպքի հանգամանքները պարզելու, Ա. Սահակյանին ծեծի ենթարկած անձանց ինքնությունը ճշտելու ու նրանց հայտնաբերելու ուղղությամբ։
