Insider unveils full specifications of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 before presentation
PhotosThe Samsung Galaxy Unpacked summer event will take place on July 10, where the company is expected to unveil the foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. Meanwhile, insider Evan Blass has already revealed the specifications of both devices and published related marketing materials.
The smartphones have become lighter and thinner, their displays have slightly changed, and battery life has improved compared to their predecessors. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 has received a translator mode: text in different languages is displayed on its two screens, allowing both participants in a conversation to read it.
The devices are claimed to have IP48 protection, though this is hardly a step forward: this standard indicates protection against solid particles larger than 1 mm, not dust, which can cause long-term damage to the hinges — perhaps Samsung simply didn’t bother to claim this rating for previous foldable devices.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 features 7.6-inch internal and 6.3-inch external screens, with the brightness of the former increasing to 2600 nits, compared to 1750 nits in last year’s model. The phone runs on the current Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor; battery life in LTE internet mode has increased by an hour, and video playback time has increased by two hours. The device is 14 grams lighter; 1.4 mm shorter, 1 mm wider, and 1.3 mm thinner when folded; and 1.4 mm shorter, 2.7 mm wider, and 0.5 mm thinner when unfolded.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 also features a more durable aluminum body (Armor Aluminum); an external screen that has increased by 0.1 inches; and a main display resolution that has changed from 2176 × 1812 to 2160 × 1856 pixels. The cameras, 4400 mAh battery, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protective glass remain the same.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 has internal and external screens measuring 6.7 inches and 3.4 inches, respectively, with the latter now built on an IPS panel instead of OLED. The main camera has a 50-megapixel sensor with the same f/1.8 aperture, replacing the previous 12-megapixel one. The smartphone runs on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, with RAM increasing from 8 to 12 GB.
When folded, the device has become 0.2 mm thinner, with other dimensions and weight unchanged. The battery capacity has increased from 3700 to 4000 mAh; LTE internet usage time has increased by two hours, and video playback time has increased by three hours. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protective glass has carried over from last year’s model.
