Ilan Shor's office was searched in Moldova

Police conducted searches in the office of Ilan Shor, leader of the opposition party bloc "Victory" in the city of Comrat, the National Anti-Corruption Center (NCAC) of Moldova said.

"In Comrat, the office of Shor's team was searched in the morning of July 9 in a case of illegal financing of a political party, money laundering and falsification of financial reports. 6 suspects were detained," reads a statement on the NCBC website.

Chisinau relations with Gagauzia escalated after a representative of the opposition Shor party, Eugenia Gutsul, won the election for the head of the autonomy. Then Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that the vote was held with violations, and Moldovan police searched the Gagauz Central Election Commission and confiscated documents. However, the Gagauz parliament expressed solidarity with Gutsul, the region held several mass actions in support of the new leader, and the Comrat Court of Appeal approved the election results, and Gutsul took office. Sandu did not sign a decree appointing her as a member of the Moldovan government, as required by law. Earlier, the Moldovan president refused to meet with the former head of the autonomy, Irina Vlah, and the head of unrecognized Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky.
