BBC headquarters in London evacuated over alert

Staff were led from the Broadcasting House in Portland Place and Langham Place, in London, due to an alert.

It was reportedly due to a fire in the building and firefighters were spotted at the scene.

Staff tweeted pictures of BBC workers standing outside the building.

One person wrote: "Broadcasting House has been evacuated due to a fire alert."

When contacted by Daily Star Online, a BBC spokesman confirmed that the alert was a false alarm.

"Everyone has now returned to the building," he added.
